BLASTmedia Volunteers at Gleaner’s Food Bank

One out of every six Americans struggles with hunger and food insecurity.

Over 300,000 Hoosiers in central and southeastern Indiana live in poverty.

The BLASTmedia team recently took a day off from the PR and social media grind to give back to our community at Indianapolis’ Gleaner’s Food Bank.

Exercising some of the same teamwork skills we use back at the office to plan and execute integrated PR and social media campaigns for our clients, BLASTmedia took to the assembly line with a goal of compiling 1,500 40-pound supplemental food boxes for elderly folks in the Gleaner’s service area.

Working closely alongside BLASTmedia client and cloud services company, Bluelock, who also happened to be volunteering at Gleaner’s that day, we exceeded our goal with over 1,600 boxes ready for distribution by the day’s end.

In the words of Winston Churchill: “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

All of us at BLASTmedia, many of whom were already active in the community individually, were happy for the opportunity to take a day to do some good in our community as a group—and are ready to do it again.
