One day and counting until we all join family and friends, old and new, embrace tradition and enjoy time away from our daily routines. In light of Thanksgiving, it's a great time to reflect on what we're thankful for - job security, American freedom, individuality, diversity.

Here are a few things the BLASToutdoors team is thankful for:

Katie - Good mid-western values
Lindsey - That Ohio State is not in the national championship this year
Jessica - Obama as President
Sarah - An election that has inspired our nation to get involved
Kathryn - My health
Mendy - Friends, family, a great job and coworkers make every day fun
Ashley - New friends in SF
Kelly - To work with such talented, smart and crazy people

BLASToutdoors appreciates our clients, winter for providing us with snow and tons of media ops, and a great team to provide the best media relations services around.

What are YOU thankful for?

PR-- A Must-Have in Tough Times

mediaproptions_medium.jpg

Whether you are a current client, a potential client or a company out there with a service or product, we know times are tough. As the economy continues to spiral and budgets downsize, this is the time when we're going the extra mile for our clients, recognizing the incredible impact and effects PR can have on business in a time of turmoil.

As I was researching today, I came across an article entitled, "Using PR in Tough Times to Build Trust" and thought it so, so, so relevant to our current state. As the author, Deborah Radman, so simply put it, "Public relations is the communications discipline that is critical in this environment, because the most credible source of information about a company or brand today is coming from people talking to people." End of story folks!

Good PR, aka BLAST PR, in a tough economy is the best time for PR. It's coverage, coverage, and more coverage that will continue to boost company sales and therefor help in turning the economy around.

Enough said!

Matthew McConaughey and the Big Stick

matthew_skateboard1.jpg

At BLASToutdoors we not only make sure that both the trade and national media know about our clients, but we also do celebrity seeding. When we started thinking about our client, Kahuna Creations, and their Big Sticks we started thinking about what celebrities / trendsetters would be interested and we obviously thought of Mathew McConaughey. The man is always active whether it be out for a run or bike ride with Lance Armstrong or surfing in Malibu so we made sure to get the Big Stick in his hands. And, this weekend he gave it a try. Check out the coverage on TMZ.

Interested in having celebrities try and/or wear your products. Give us a call!

BLAST celebrates a Russian ('s) holiday

russian celebration.jpg

Michael's birthday, that is! He was a man of simple needs yesterday. His only request was a Russian-style cake and the company of five ladies. Easy enough. All we had to do was clear our schedules Monday night, go to three Russian bakeries on Sunday afternoon until said cake was found and hope Daves Bar would make room for our group.

A quick study in decadence, what with cake, wine and free beer supplied by a beer rep passing through, we sang Happy Birthday to our friend Michael, the Russian Maintenance Man.

BLASToutdoors Welcomes back HangTimer!

BLASToutoors is pumped to rock n' roll with the new HangTimer sports technology application for both versions of the iPhone and iPod touch.

This application utilizes the iPhone's accelerometer and some of the same technology used by NASA to determine the split second you become airborne.

Like the original HangTimer, the new application records your air time and top ten best jumps; with the improved technology HangTimer now automatically detects your ski resort anywhere in the world and downloads the area's snow reports, lift status and trail maps. Select resorts allow HangTimer to access webcams.

For users with the iPhone 3G, Hangtimer has bonus features which use the built in GPS to find your exact position for every jump and plot it using Google Maps. The GPS also enables the HangTimer application to display the users' speed as he or she cruises along and how fast they are going when they take flight.

With the winter months upon us, this iPhone application is a must have for all outdoor sports enthusiasts so you can back up your "trash talk" with some actual statistics.

Chad Zakskorn, 15, an avid skier and trickster, could not contain his excitement when he heard about the new HangTimer application: "This is a piece of technology that will benefit skiers and snowboarders alike," said Zakskorn. "HangTimer is a cool application that will help me find my way around the mountain and show me where my best jumps were."

When asked why his other ski buddies would like the application, he replied, "It will show them how much air time they got so they can brag to each other."

Glad there is an application our there that will allow every 15 year old boy some bragging rights!
