San Francisco Goes Green

San Francisco definitely went green on March 17th...While it's not what you may be thinking, as we continue to see a variety of companies truly "going green" in the outdoor space...

That's right, it was the luck of the Irish in San Francisco on St. Patrick's Day as the green shirts, shoes, crazy hats, and hey, even headphones (if they were wearing Skullcandy) were out in full force. My co-worker, and part Irish gal-pal, Katie, and I decided to head "outdoors" and see what the city truly had to offer on the Monday holiday...

First stop, Dave's-- gotta love the hole in the wall.

And of course we had to see what the "true Irish" were up to at Irish Bank...

And needless to say, by the end of the night the kilts were out...

San Fran Demonstrates: Iraq War Five Year Anniversary

Today at the corner of 3rd and Market, right in front of the Hearst building, we caught sight of the progressive anti-war demonstrators as they laid down their views (and bodies) in protest of the fifth year anniversary of the Iraq war. We took pictures before protesters continued on their way to lay down in front of the companies that had a part in backing the war.

Showshoeing One Girl's Mission to Make it COOL!

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to break a way from the city and get up to the beauty and snow that Tahoe has to offer.

Prior to my trip, I had been at Outdoor Retailer with my client SkirtSports and at SIA with Skullcandy, where there was nothing but every vendor you could ever imagine who had somehting to offer the outdoor enthusiast. While immersed with all the snowboarding and skiing equipment I could ever imagine, I found my eye and brain wandering not to the items I would normally purchase, but to one unique shoe I never imagined myself wearing...Can you guess? That's right, snowshoes.

Once I got to break free of the city, all I could think about where those funky shoes and getting out in the snow to test them out for myself. So I decided to pass on my normal activity, snowboarding, and break out on the trails for a $15 rental fee, with my snowshoes.

Coming from a girl who never thought she'd see the day when snowshoeing was "cool", I can honestly say that snowshoeing has found a place in my heart and I will forever claim snowshoeing as the ultimate COOL.

BLASToutdoors Welcomes April!

We at BLASToutdoors would like to extend a warm welcome to the newest member of our San Francisco team, April Bacuetes. As you can see Michael has already stopped by to say hello! April is an awesome addition- read her interview and find out why!

Katie: Where did you grow up?
April: San Diego, CA, 15 minutes away from the beach!
Jessica: If you had an hour to spare, what would you do?
April: I would read, my favorite book is Sula. I also like to shop- especially in Union Square. I think you both would agree that Target is also one of the best places to go!
Katie: What's a random fact people don't know about you?
April: Eww I don't like people's feet to touch mine.
Jessica: What are your favorite outdoor activities?
April: Running and swimming. surf and turf...
Katie: Last question, what are you most looking forward to at BLAST?
April: Anything and everything but pitching. Just kidding!

Thanks for humoring us April.. There are definitely fun times ahead!

P.S I wore my "Pug Life 4-Eva tee shirt in honor of Michael- we both own em' and I am that big of a dork.
