Last weekend, SkirtSports launched their first-ever “SkirtChaser” 5k event, where shorts were definitely optional. The company who first launched the original fitness running skirt design, in Austin during 2005, went back to the "fit city", with whole new twist to the world of running.
The event kicked off with an all-women’s start, followed by a men’s “skirt chaser” start three minutes later and concluded with a post-race happy hour, live entertainment, and a fashion show. The skirts were such a hit, some men actually dressed in wigs and skirts to try to sneak into the women’s start—but, not to worry the Skirt police were out in full force and the men were quickly escorted back.
Bringing out around 300 skirts and skirtchasers the race was filled with pros, local joes, and those who just showed up for the free after party. No matter the reason, everyone had a great time.
Launching a totally new and innovative race series, the Skirts were "skirted out" (as we like to say) and had Austin taken by surprise....
Get ready Tempe, as the Skirts are coming in full force on February 29th.
