Hometown & Places You’ve Lived/Worked: Originally from Philadelphia (GO EAGLES!!) but lived in Bluffton, IN (don’t blink or you’ll miss it) for the majority of my life and though my family now is in Fishers, I still consider Bluffton home.

Random Fact about You: I was diagnosed with kidney cancer when I was 16. Since it was caught very early, they were able to remove the cancer by simply taking my right kidney. So be an organ donor!

Favorite Bloggers: “youareyourownkindofbeautiful” is a blog of a friend of mine directed towards girls dealing with anorexia or self-harm tendencies. As someone who once dealt with these same issues, she now seeks to be a voice of hope for others.

What’s your favorite “thing” about BLASTmedia?: Two minutes into my interview with BLASTmedia, I knew that this is where I wanted to do my internship. Not only does the team here at BLAST know what they are doing, but everyone is also willing to help out and answer any questions I have. Moreover, the BLAST client list features some incredible companies who provide amazing services to both people and businesses alike, which makes working with BLAST a…well, blast!

Melissa Lawhorn, Social Media Intern

Nickname(s): My very best friend who passed away in high school always called me Missa and my family calls me May. Just don’t call me Missy or you’ll have a problem on your hands!

Hometown & Places You’ve Lived/Worked: I’m a born and raised Hoosier girl, originally from Arcadia (Go Huskies!) and now attending Indiana University in Bloomington (Go Hoosiers!)

Random Fact about You: I have 10+ tattoos, no joke.

One word to describe you: Blonde. I am normally pretty intelligent, but there are a few moments where my natural hair color definitely shines through.

Favorite Pandora Station or iTunes song list: This is a tough one, but The Beatles for all-time favorite. I also have a great hybrid Pandora made up of Keith Urban, John Mayer and Tyler Hilton.

Interesting Tweep(s) you follow and why they’re cool: I follow a LOT of cool people, but I’d say that some of my favorites are Christine Perez (a super funny marketing student and intern) and Lauren Fernandez (one of the creators of #u30pro, and an all-around awesome person to chat with).

Favorite Social Media Site/App/Tool: Twitter is by far my favorite site, and left to my own devices I would delete all my other accounts!

Favorite Bloggers: I have over 300 subscriptions right now in my Google Reader, but my favorite blogger is Andi Teggart of Polish My Crown. She is SO inspirational and I really admire her positive outlook. She’s a great reminder of not to sweat the small stuff in life.

What’s your favorite “thing” about BLASTmedia?: The atmosphere in the office and the people. Both make for an amazing work environment. I love that they play music and interact with each other throughout the day, because I can’t stand a quiet work environment!
