Social Media Quick Tips from Our BLASTmedia Team on eMarketingVids
by Julie February 28th, 2011
At BLASTmedia, we’re big fans of the new eMarketingVids video series being produced by our good friends and social media rockstars Amy Porterfield (also of Social Media Examiner, whose co-authored book Facebook Marketing All-In-One for Dummies drops May 2011), videographer and show host Haley Hohengarten and the “New Media Master” himself (or at least that’s what I call him), Paul Colligan.
Tune into the eMarketingVids YouTube channel to find a new video added every weekday, broken down by platform (Mondays = Getting Started; Tuesday = Twitter; Wednesday = WordPress; Thursday = Apps & Tools; Friday = Facebook). Many notable experts in the social media space have been featured since the series launched in January, including Twitter expert Coach Deb Micek, CEO of Hootsuite Ryan Holmes, and social media wizard, Chris Brogan.
So naturally, we were flattered when two of our own BLASTmedia social media team members were invited to contribute their insider tips while hanging with the eMarketingVids crew at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas. Below you’ll find “getting started on YouTube” advice from myself, Julie Perry, while Sean Ireton (also known for his personal site, ParodyRapper.com) dishes some helpful Twitter tips.
First: Find out in under three minutes how to get started marketing on YouTube before you even have video content to upload. Hint: Set up a channel and build YouTube playlists by aggregating other people’s content in your niche industry. (And it doesn’t hurt to optimize those playlists for search either — but that’s a video lesson for another time.)
Mind you, this advice pertains to a temporary way to dive into YouTube while you work to get your initial videos produced and uploaded. (In other words: no excuses — start today!)
As a side note to that, even though we have our own BLASTmedia videos to share, we still feature video playlists for all of our social media & PR clients on our own BLASTmedia YouTube channel. You can swing by our channel to see how that looks: www.youtube.com/BLASTmediaPR
Next: Learn the importance of reaching out and connecting with new media influencers on Twitter in order to build relationships that can assist your PR and promotional efforts…
…And “SeanieMic” is definitely the master at this strategy. Not only has he managed to get his own ParodyRapper videos featured on Mashable, FunnyorDie.com and the Huffington Post, but he consistently gets our clients’ tech products reviewed by some of the most influential YouTube video content producers around.
Thanks again to eMarketingVids for featuring our tips! We look forward to more great content from our fellow social media colleagues via their channel — count on us to tune in.
