It’s the start of a new year, and at BLASTmedia, we are happy to announce a new addition to our ever-growing Social Media Marketing Team – Courtney Sampson has officially joined us to help kick off 2011 with a bang (or more appropriately, an optimized buzz)!

A recent graduate from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Courtney brings a wide variety of PR, marketing and social media experience to the table — much of which she gained from some pretty hands-on internships, including ones with Indianapolis Downtown, Inc, and the Indianapolis State Fair (where she ran some super impressive social media projects!)…To learn more about Courtney’s professional experience, you can visit her LinkedIn profile.

Meanwhile, in order for our readers to get to know Courtney more personally (after all, what we do is all about relationship-building), we asked her to answer a few fun questions…

Nickname: “Anyone can call me Court; my mom calls me Boo; my brother calls me Tookies (we made up our own language when we were younger, and that’s the name he dubbed for me!).”

Hometown: “The great Indianapolis, Indiana…It’s anything but ‘nappy.’”

Random fact: “Well, a random fact about me is that I am left-handed (and very proud of it). But beyond me, if you just want any random fact: President William Howard Taft, who weighed 332 lbs., got stuck in the White House bathtub the first time he used it, and a larger one was ordered. (I love presidential trivia!)” (Well, we weren’t exactly specific on what kind of fact we wanted.)

One word to describe you: “Connected”

Favorite Quote: “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Favorite Pandora Station: “I try to strategically build my own Pandora station by editing each station’s details. I don’t think I’ve figured out how to trick Pandora yet, but I’m working on it. My favorite station (today) is ‘Country Chix,’ which is my personal collection of favorite country female singers. (Sorry, country music haters!)”

Favorite Tweep(s) you follow: “@TeecycleTim has to be my favorite Tweep. He introduced me to the wonder that is Twitter, and for that, I owe him big. After all, I did see the BLASTmedia job opening via Twitter. Tim is the voice behind @MarquetteU (my alma mater) and operates Teecycle, which aims to change your shirt and our world. He also coerced me into presenting my first PechaKucha presentation — it’s my new favorite way to share ideas!”

Favorite Social Media Site/App/Tool: “Foursquare. With the tap of a finger, you can get discounts and specials. Hey, if you hate it, I won’t fault you…but don’t give me grief if my bill is less than yours!”

(Note: On our BLASTmedia Social Media Team, we now have COPs, which stands for “Chiefs of Platform.” Each of our team members is responsible for staying on top of every new tactic, technique and strategy with regard to one particular social media platform or practice, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, WordPress & blogging, Email Marketing, Link Building & SEO, and yes, Foursquare and similar location-based & mobile social networks. Guess who just became our Foursquare COP!)
