Whether you tweet, post, check in, or upload, social media is a part of your life. According to SocialMediaToday.com, 41.6% of the U.S. population has a Facebook account…And so it goes that when you watch a funny video online, you want to share it with others within your social network.

In my spare time, I’ve been known to create a few parody music videos, several of which have seen their fair share of social media coverage–including my Facebook anthem, “I’m Quitting You, Facebook”. Working in the social media stratosphere, I come across a number of videos that make me laugh (and I must say, another batch that make me scratch my head a little)…

But for the most part, when one of these social media music videos goes viral, we all chuckle along to the references and puns that make them so worth sharing. So I’ll save you some time and take you on a viral video adventure by poking, retweeting, and liking the best (and worst) social media music videos on the web.

“My Mom’s On Facebook” by backoftheclass

This music video comes from the comedy troupe, Back Of The Class, as they talk about what everyone dreads: your mom on Facebook. I have personally told my mom NOT to become my Facebook friend because I don’t want a “mom lecture” in my status update. Pay close attention to the lyrics and laugh along with me:

“Crazy Little Thing The Web” by codellamarketing

This video will make you laugh in the first 5 seconds (and not the good kind of laughter they were going for). Created by Pete Codella from MultimediaWise, he covers the Queen song “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” and it looks like something Michael Scott would make for Dunder Mifflin.

“Social Media Rap” by suehenrytalks

Yes, that screenshot is a 50-year-old woman wearing a hat sideways. If my boss, @JuliePerry, makes a video like this, I quit.

“The Foursquare Rap” by thenewb

I have yet to join Foursquare because I can’t find one legitimate reason to sign up. (Hey, I checked into work, now I’m a mayor of a place I go to everyday *cough* @trimblyton @MegFlyn *cough*)… Check out this M.I.A. parody of “Swagger Like Us” and see if this will influence you to join the tetherball competitor.

The folks at Alterian, a social media marketing firm, created this “masterpiece.” What happens when you get a group of white folks in an office with a cheesy karaoke beat of “Bust A Move”? This.

“Welcome To YouTube” by BoBurnham

Funnyman (and this time, I mean it) Bo Burnham got his start on YouTube, so it’s no surprise to see that he created a YouTube song. He performed the ditty during YouTube Live and it solidified my belief that the only users on this video-sharing site are 13-year-old girls who love the Jonas Brothers. (Which, by the way, is not true.)
